A psychologist?

So what is your definition of 'a psychologist'?
Most of the answers would be "someone who reads mind" or "a person who reads thoughts".
Well, actually, a psychologist is a person who studies mind and behavior.
From the research of psychologists, they could understand and explain how we think, act, and feel.

Nevertheless, psychology is divided into various field, which is
1. Abnormal psychology,
2. Biological psychology,
3. Clinical psychology,
4. Cognitive psychology,
5. Comparative psychology,
6. Developmental psychology,
7. Forensic psychology,
8. Industrial-organizational psychology,
9. Personality psychology,
10. School psychology,
11. Social psychology

Most of the stereotype on what a psychologist do is actually somewhat true, where the psychologist would watch every inch of your facial expression and your body language to understand what exactly another person is feeling. Well, if you watched Dr. Frost, you could learn a little from how and what a psychologist work as. In this drama, the psychologist work as someone who studies the behavior of another person and he could know the nature of that person, like is he lying or speaking the truth. Also, he is able to predict on what the next step of the criminal would be. How nice is it right? ;D

There is also psychologists who help treating mental illnesses. So are you confused on what's the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist?
Basically, a psychiatrist is a person with degree in medicine and a psychologist is a person with doctoral-level degree in psychology.
In Malaysia, you need to study medicine for five years and then only you could specialize in psychiatry. That means a psychiatrist is someone who has the right to prescribe medicine related to mental illness.
So, a psychologist, with a lot of studies about mental illnesses but not with the medicine, would treat the patients with his/her ability of learning the causes and know exactly on how the psychological therapy would be.

A school psychologist is usually someone who works with students and help them in making their way for success :D

What I like most about psychology is that we could learn more and more the entire life(a lifelong learning), understanding what's happening around us like why are they doing this and that, what makes them become who they are and most importantly, we could learn more about ourselves =D
